Dear AUGS Members,
The following article, and especially the personal conclusion, reflects my own personal opinion regarding the settlement agreement between Amiga Corporation and Hyperion Entertainment BV.
As this is not an official statement of AUGS – Amiga User Group Switzerland, we have deliberately made my personal conclusion available exclusively as an internal document in the members-only area of our website.
Since its foundation, AUGS has always been about bringing together people who share a passion for using, preserving and developing the Amiga. We see ourselves as an independent community and do not intend to take sides in legal or commercial matters involving individual companies.
Nevertheless, this settlement affects everyone who has been part of the Amiga community for many years. For that reason, I felt it was worthwhile to look at the agreement from the perspective of a long-time community member and to share my personal thoughts with you.
Within the article you will find both positive observations and critical reflections. These represent my personal assessment only and are intended to encourage thought and discussion. Other members of the Amiga community may come to different conclusions, and that is perfectly acceptable.
Because opinions on this topic vary considerably, AUGS has deliberately chosen not to publish an official position or recommendation regarding the settlement. We believe that every member should have the opportunity to form their own opinion based on the available information.
By making this personal conclusion available internally, my intention is simply to offer an additional perspective that goes beyond a factual summary of the settlement agreement. It should be seen as a personal reflection rather than an official position of AUGS.
Thank you for being part of our community and for supporting the Amiga with your enthusiasm, knowledge and dedication over so many years.
Alisha
